Hello, I'm Jia Wen
I'm a Melbourne-based aspiring Product Designer, studying Computer Science at Monash University.

About me
Having grown up in Melbourne and Dubai, I see the world through a lens shaped by diversity and curiosity. As a final year Computer Science student, I aspire to make a difference with my technical expertise and creativity.
With adaptability, maturity and open-mindedness that set me apart, I approach challenges with a fresh perspective – I’m keen to collaborate with fellow creatives and innovators.
Skills
"Nothing for you, without you."
I bring strong creative problem-solving skills and a deep commitment to designing with the user in mind.
Python, Java, Git, Unity
Figma, Photoshop, Canva, Microsoft Word
Darktable, RawTherapee, DaVinci Resolve, Photography
German Intermediate (CEFR B1), Mandarin Beginner
Design, efficiency, and accuracy are values I live by.
My journey with design and technology began in early in primary school, exploring fonts and animations in Microsoft PowerPoint. That early curiosity grew into a passion for design, technology, and usability.
In school, I co-founded a student newspaper, using design to amplify student voices and build a cohesive, engaging publication. Along the way, I developed skills in writing, editing, and leadership, mentoring others who shared my interests. This drive to support and connect with others led me to become a Resident Advisor, where I foster community and inclusivity on campus.

Dear DBS: School Newspaper design, writing and editing
Up until November 2019, we felt like our school was missing something: a student voice. Alongside a friend, we started an after-school club to kick-start our publication.

Photography collection:
Travel photography and landscapes
During my travels, I take pictures to capture the moment - each one a way to preserve the moment and relive it again in the future. I shoot with my phone and a Canon M50.
